Whitbourne and Ingrid chose to begin their official “Legacy of Love” on Wednesday, April 18, 1973. The odds were stacked against them, with parents on both sides having separated. Despite the family history, they BELIEVED they could beat the odds. Carefully and prayerfully, they navigated the journey, mostly choosing the “road least taken” (The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost). This meant moving upstream in a society that unashamedly valued things over people and self over family. Limiting the number of offspring usually meant larger wealth amassed and less risk of loss, so choosing a God-centered home instead of political correctness was not the popular route.

Joshua’s 24:15b [KJV], “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” was the mantra, and “If the foundation began to crumble, then the answer was always to build it up again.” Eight original offspring later, half of them still alive, this couple knows that the vision is even more evident. The vision of “Legacy of Love” is to stand as a beacon of HOPE for global families, transparently allowing the world to see LOVE in LIFESTYLE. This unconditional love is spread over decades of sunrises and sunsets, showing the splendor of the eternal God of LOVE who created the universe.

Dialogue held in 2014 between Venere Emanuel and Vietta Ann:

This conversation surrounded the newly designed LEGACY logo for the family business.

Vietta: “The date on the logo is wrong. It says 1975.”

Venere: “Vietta, it’s 1975.”

Vietta: “That doesn’t make sense, Van. If anything, it should say 1974 because that’s my birthdate, and I represent the first of the legacy offspring.”

Venere: “Vietta, it’s 1975.”

Vietta: “That’s not right. Mom and Dad’s wedding date should be used because that started the legacy.”

Venere: “Vietta, it’s 1975.”

Vietta: “Just because you designed it doesn’t give you the right to give it your birthdate.”

Venere: ……Sound of silence (crickets)

Venere died suddenly on Monday, December 21, 2015, leaving us behind the LEGACY he had created. We knew then that he had known that he would be the first to transition and had marked our LEGACY.

Felecia Johnson, a close family friend, came up with the additional part of our family’s business name, “of Love”, in 2016. At that time, she was training VeronaCeleste on creating the “Legacy of Love” app. The inspiration came to her when VeronaCeleste and her were trying to decide what to name the app.

Felecia explained to Verona that her family is extremely close-knit, and that they are so full of love for one another and others! It only made sense to complete Venere’s “Legacy” vision with “of Love”!!

*Side Note: If you abbreviate “Legacy of Love” it becomes LOL, which also stands for Laugh Out Loud! Verona abbreviates it this way — L.o.L, which looks like a smiley face!! These symbolic abbreviations show the lighter FUNNY side of the Whitbourne Emanuel (W.E.) HUTCHfam; all family members, from youngest to oldest, have a great sense of humor!!!

What:

Why:
Very simply, it expresses the truth of the family’s commitment to the handiwork of God in their lives. Serving Jehovah is a choice; we have made it, each in their time and space.

What:
We encourage you to love the Lord with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself!!!!!!!

Why:
We believe the world is a blanket of connected families, each able to impact the universe significantly.
